The newly formed South Dakota Grasslands Initiative held its inaugural summit this past March. It’s goal to build awareness of the value of grasslands, which once comprised of 97% of the state. These grasslands are paramount “for ensuring water infiltration and quality, soil health, livestock forage, and bird and wildlife habitat.
